Factors which affect the way our SKIN ages include exposure to the sun, genetic factors and smoking. Using sun protection creams and other moisturisers as well as stopping smoking can help slow the ageing process of the skin.
Despite this, the underlying causes of skin ageing will continue including decline in natural hyaluronic acid (HA) levels, collagen and fat loss.
Dermal fillers like Juvederm® are hyaluronic acid gels. They can be used to restore tone and volume, thereby helping reduce the appearance of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds (the lines from the side of the nose to the corners of the mouth). They simply are injected into the dermis (skin) to make these folds less obvious.
Another popular area to treat are the marionette lines. These are the lines / folds that run down from the corners of your mouth to the chin. As we age, they become a common frustration for many individuals as they can make us look sad or angry. Treatment with an injectable HA filler can instantly lift the noticeable lines and folds.
Dermal fillers can also be used to soften other lines and wrinkles around the eyes in addition to Botox. At Rejuvenate we can also use dermal filler to treat and soften the appearance of fine lines above the lips, commonly known as ‘lipstick lines’ or ‘smokers lines’.
At Rejuvenate Anti-ageing clinic we use Juvederm Ultra which is a leading brand used and respected worldwide. The aesthetic effects of Juvederm Ultra typically last 9 to 12 months.
The procedure itself only takes a few minutes and involves an injection of relatively tiny amounts of the gel carefully into the skin. Juvederm Ultra contains a local anaesthetic therefore the injection is relatively painless.
Immediately after the treatment there may be slight redness and an itching sensation in the treated area. This is a normal result of the treatment. These mild, expected side-effects are temporary and generally disappear in a day or so.
A free 2 to 4 week check-up is offered to all our patients for Dr McNally to review the results of your treatment.
You will see some effect immediately, however you should notice further improvement over the next few weeks.
We advise you to avoid any tiring physical exercise, applying make-up and excessive alcohol consumption for approximately 12 hours after treatment.
Typically 9 to 12 months.
